1457 is a touchable wall sculpture focused on the year 1457CE, when the Gutenberg Press was ramping up production of printed material. In a grid of 1600 holes, 1457 are filled with plant pieces. 143 empty holes create a globe shaped ghost. Over time, and as the piece is touched, the globe begins to fade out and be obscured by pieces falling out of the grid. 1457 reminds us of the effect we have on our natural resources and planet earth. No matter how gently we touch, we still have impact.
